Getting My Yogi Back

Week One -- Beginning

I started doing Kundalini Yoga in 1972. It changed my life in ways that were dramatic and beyond what I ever could have imagined at the time. Living as a householder who practices yoga and walks a spiritual path is a discipline and a blessing I am grateful for every day. I'm turning 60 in 2011 and it's time to "get my yogi back" after spending more time in a chair in front of a computer than on a yoga mat these past few years. For the next 100 days I'm making a focused effort to practice more yoga every day, take classes in various styles and marking the changes in my day-to-day life as I do so. For me yoga must be useful and relevant in navigating whatever comes my way in work, relationships, finances and my own inner wrestlings, and with the times being as intense as they are right now, I know I need all the help I can get. Yoga's not the answer for everything, but it is an amazing technology that, if done with pure intention, opens the door to increased awareness and service to humanity. So, why not use it?

Please join me on this journey, if you are so inspired. I'd love to hear about what stage of your practice you're in... just beginning, avid practitioner, fallen off the yoga wagon or would like to start, but just haven't done so yet. Leave comments, questions, insights, recommendations, whatever message you'd like, on this page and ensuing vlog pages. Feel free to Contact me.

Thank you for beginning this. I am grateful and I will be watching. It is so nice to be reminded that one is not alone in one's journey to start over and over and over as the years pass. Best of luck and blessings.

It is with great gratitude that I join you on this journey! Life's ups and downs have made for a shaky practice at times. And today, this group commitment invitation feels like a nudge from the Universe. Thank You and many blessings to you and all...

Love it, I am exactly at the same point in my practice; but for different reasons. I just got 4 dvds from the library on different kinds of yoga and plan to do them at my home. I have been unable to get out, but normally do 4 or 5 different styles a week. I applaud your efforts and hope to follow your progress as well.
Namaste, Denise

I wish you much light and love in this old/new journey. I feel very identified with you as this past year has been more about the computer than about yoga. Though kundalini yoga also made incredible changes in my life when I first met it and I am deeply grateful for that. All in all, I have been able to keep a 31 min. meditation every day, and amazingly enough, the times that I am most concentrated in the computer doing programming, it is easier for me to meditate. I never thought they were compatible tasks... but as I practiced the meditation I observed this. However, it's really hard for me to get up to sadhana nowadays... I wanted to share this and thank you for opening this space and I'll be looking forward to hearing from your experience..
:)
Much blessings!! :)
