Slough It Off

Using a Body Brush

Don’t give your lymph system the "brush off"—it’s a first line of defense to keep you strong and healthy. Just as your heart pumps the blood, your lymph system uses muscle activity to remove toxins and heavy metals from your body. Dry brushing your skin—the largest organ of elimination—is a great way to keep your lymph fluid moving. Dry brushing has a similar effect as a muscle contraction, boosting circulation, opening pores and exfoliating your skin.

Use a dry, natural bristle body brush before your morning shower. Begin at your feet and legs and move up toward your shoulders. Then brush up from your palms toward your neck. Brush in a light, circular motion, moving in the direction of your heart. If your skin is sensitive, you can use a dry washcloth. You will feel invigorated and your skin will glow when you’re done with your daily brush…and your lymph will love you!
