Pedal Power

Enjoy Life's Ride

You hear from many paths and teachers to give up the struggle for control. It seems there is always something to be fighting or striving for: jobs, money, relationships, etc. The good news? At every moment, you can make the conscious choice of trusting that you are being cared for, so that you can enjoy more of life’s journey.

An inspirational piece, “Bicycling with God” (anonymous writer), suggests letting the Infinite be in charge. Metaphorically, letting the Infinite do the steering is much like riding on a tandem bicycle. At first, giving up any control in life can be scary, just like learning to ride a bike. As the author says, “When I was in control, I knew the way, but it was rather boring and predictable. When I exchanged places with God, life has not been the same…it’s been an adventure.” So, why not let go and let the Divine steer the way? And when you think you can’t go on, just keep pedaling!
