Love Thy Enemy

Dissolve the Anger

Love your enemy? Dealing with difficult people can be a blessing in disguise. How? For one thing, it can help you to realize that we are all part of an amazing human family. The enemy, or difficult person, is actually more like you than not. In the purest sense, I am you, you are me, and we are One; although there are times when we need to understand why we are so hurt or frustrated by another person.

Try this powerful technique to dissolve angry feelings about a person or situation. First, write down each situation, action or trait about the person that upsets you. Then, write how your thoughts, words or deeds may have had a similar effect on that person. Take time to meditate on the interchange between you and your “enemy” and when you feel a sense of rightness, take a few deep breaths and open your mind and heart to your similarities. Dissolve the anger and you might find that “loving your enemy” is the best way to learn to love yourself!

As a combat veteran who fought the Japanese, I learned to hate. When i witnessed the events of their recent geological problems, i felt a very strong pride in their behavior and determination. The hate was gone, replaced by sorrow. They are very good teachers. We
could learn.
