Bowl-ed Over

Tibetan Singing Bowls

Remember running your finger around the rim of a wine glass to make it hum? The same concept lies behind sound healing with Tibetan singing bowls. Made of hammered metals, these bowls are a type of bell or gong played to create a radiant vibration that enhances meditation, relaxation and well-being. Many yoga practitioners use these bowls to set the mood for their yoga practice and to invoke deep relaxation after a yoga set.

Massage therapists, psychotherapists and other healers have discovered the power of singing bowls to heal emotional and physical trauma. A modern version of the singing bowl, the crystal bowl, also resonates with the “sound teaching” revered by Buddhists. You can learn to play these bowls for personal enjoyment, to align your chakras for healing and to enhance your yoga teaching. The universe is in a constant state of vibration, so discover the power of singing bowls to harmonize your body into a state of health and balance.
