Bliss in Blessings
Feeling the Love

You do it after you sneeze, pray before a meal and welcome a new baby. From a simple Salud or Gesundheit to an elaborate ceremony of gratitude, blessings are part of the fabric of being human. Parents bless a marriage, a priest or rabbi blesses the congregation. If you are gifted with a positive mind, you may even see a “blessing in disguise” when troubles come to your door. Feeling blessed all comes down to recognizing that you are the recipient of something good.
To be blessed is…well, a blessing! It infuses you with a sense of goodness, of being in favor with the Cosmos. Giving and receiving blessings—ritually or informally—imparts a sense of the sacred into even the most mundane realms, such as a high-tech military helicopter blessed by Native Americans to protect its occupants from harm. In the ups and downs of life, remember to bless yourself and others. Take a few minutes each day to be mindful of your blessings and send them out into the world!
