Be a Human Forklift

The Gift of Elevation

In your daily life, have you ever thought about being a human “forklift”— someone who elevates the people around you to a higher place? A simple action or kind word helps a person in need, plus it lifts you up as well. It is a well-known fact that if you are feeling down about the circumstances in your life, the best possible remedy is to take care of someone who is struggling more than yourself.

This “forklifting” can be as simple as a phone call to a friend who needs a sympathetic ear, taking food or clothing to a homeless shelter or mentoring a young person. When you start looking around you, these opportunities will suddenly appear everywhere. As you spare a dollar for an out of work veteran or give a helping hand to an elderly neighbor you are doing more than you know to make the world a better place. So lift yourself up and be the forklift!
