Power Number 108

Cosmic Numerology III

In this series, we have been studying the power of numerology to guide your life. Let’s look at a yogic “power number”—108—which derives from the number nine. The vibration of nine represents the height of mental and spiritual attainment, focusing on global transformation, through understanding the true value of life and our connection to the Divine. Nine contains the energy of all the other numbers, making it a high potency number.

In yoga, the number 108 embodies the energy of nine (1 + 0 + 8 = 9) and is considered a sacred number. The yogic practice of doing 108 Sun Salutations to commemorate the change of seasons is a mala, representing the 108 prayer beads.

Your life’s path is determined by the map in the heavens at your time and place of birth. Nine planets and 12 astrological signs represent all beings (12 x 9 = 108). The diameter of the sun is 108 times the diameter of the Earth. The distance from the Sun to the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Sun. The average distance of the Moon from the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Moon. The energy of 108 lives in the cosmos!

The Sanskrit alphabet has 54 letters—each with a masculine and feminine form (54 x 2= 108). Sanskrit chants balance your chakra energies, stimulate the meridians in your mouth and beneficially influence your nervous system.

The manifold expressions of the number 108 simply cannot be attributed to chance. The only wise response is to humbly invite this sacred energy into your life as you participate in meditation (with mala beads), chanting (Sanskrit mantra) and yoga (Sun Salutations). Empower your life with 108!
