Mercurial Wednesday

Planetary Days of the Week

Wednesday’s planetary ruler is Mercury—the messenger of the Gods—guiding the intellect, communication and commerce. It’s the fastest moving planet in our solar system, traveling closest to the Sun. Mercury acts as a mirror of your ego, forcing you to look deeply at yourself and allowing you to open up to all your senses.

Mercury is also the Trickster, with a quick wit and a fondness for playing practical jokes. If you are quick to the punch with a retort or witty line, that is evidence of your mercurial mind. To keep it real, Mercury is the patron of both merchants and thieves!

Take advantage of this energy by dressing on Wednesday with Mercury’s attire— immaculate and clean clothes. Mantra meditations and celestial communication are appropriate on this middle day of the week, as Mercury connects us with the Divine Word. Read books on Wednesday to keep your mind busy…or write, think and ponder philosophy and mathematical studies. Tend to your mercantile activities and clerical record keeping.

Emerald is the gem of Mercury; its green color promotes constancy of mind and warm true friendship. Wearing peridot or green tourmaline will support artful persuasion and diplomacy in your communications. Wednesday is the perfect day to commune with nature, lie on the grass, or breathe in the lushness of a forest for invigoration.

Mercury rules the skin, nerves and hands, making Wednesday a good day for activities requiring manual dexterity. Known as the Buddha Graha in Hindu mythology, Mercury is considered the greatest among the wise, bestowing understanding and wealth on his devotees. On Wednesdays, look for the light of Truth within you, go beyond the five senses and always lead with your heart!
