Clear the Clutter
Om in the Home - Feng Shui II
Ready for some more Om in the Home? Let’s start with de-cluttering. In case you haven’t noticed, de-cluttering is all the rage. Clearing clutter is the new therapy “sweeping” the nation.
As the planet (and her inhabitants) evolves, its vibration rises. This results in many of our personal belongings feeling like a weight. Space makes us feel good. Notice how your breath changes after you clear something out.
This is part of a return to living close and in harmony with the Earth. This is feng shui—like yoga for your home. But why, then, is de-cluttering so hard? Partly, because your belongings are not just stuff. Each item has its own energy field filled with your memories emotions, and attachments. Therein lies the freedom in letting go.
For many of us, certain items are difficult to part with. If you don’t love it or use it, then it is time to part with it. If you are still having resistance, then it’s time to acknowledge an emotional attachment to the item.
Get to the root of why you are hanging on to an item that is no longer serving you. Your old hairbrush may be a reservoir of memories that you and your sister shared when she helped you get ready for prom. Maybe the shirt with the price tag on it conjures up guilt for buying things that are on sale and never wearing them. Until acknowledged, the shirt will hang in your closet serving only to attract the pattern for more guilt.
Once you have awareness around an item, you will be amazed at how easy it will be to let go of it. Try this the next time you hit a roadblock in de-cluttering—and remember to breathe.
