Boredom Cure

Work as Worship

Time is elastic. It contorts itself to perceptions. Sometimes it flies by; sometimes it will never get to 5 o’clock. Make the most of your day, hours, and minutes. Sanctify it! No matter what the task, no matter whether you feel particularly “called” to perform it, the approach should be as if you were inspired.

Boredom means you aren’t paying attention. In each moment, you have a choice as to how you will engage. There is so much already at work in that moment, why not just join the flow? A lot of dots had to connect to get you to where you are now. That may not sound uplifting to you, depending on where you find yourself, but you have to agree it’s impressive when you consider the sheer vastness of it; from your parents’ first meeting to this morning when you showed up for work. Even your internal wiring that has been arranged so that you can look back and say, “Wow!” Breathe deeply the mystery. Open your mind and go back to work energized!
