Tickle in the Throat
What Haven't You Said?

Where did that sore throat come from? And why did you have to wake up with it today? Throat issues have a particular significance, according to the ancient yogis.
The Vishuddha Chakra is located at the throat. Like other chakras, it is described as a turning wheel, but this one is different in that it is primarily affected by matters of faith and understanding. Speech travels through the throat, and when your sense of meaning is awry, you become especially susceptible to the minor ailments that become more impactful if not addressed. Udana Vayu, the air governing the voice, has the natural tendency toward projection. In other words, it can become irritated when you do not feel your words have meaning. So sing, chant a mantra, or find an affirmation and repeat it to yourself at least eleven times. Get in touch with your Vishuddha, or Purity. Then say what you have to say and feel good and healthy about it.

Great post. I was just also reading up on the throat chakra as I had a sore throat recently, and i didn't feel it had to do with anything unexpressed. But what i did find was...being willing to change was very relevant for what i was going through. Such a core principle, but one that we forget so easily i find.
Thanks for your posts.
Well, here's the thing. I used to sing and enjoyed it very much, but in the last two years I can no longer sing or even chant. What comes out is like a whisper and when I push from the lower belly a few stuttered, jagged sounds pop out. It has been an interesting experience. so chanting is not a solution for me it is one of my difficulties.

Thank you for sharing this. As a yogini and a professional singer, I can attest that when I am not speaking my truth or when I don't feel heard, it manifests itself in my throat.
