The New Year kicks off on a highly emotional note, keeping you up all night, thanks to the full moon party the first weekend of 2010.  Be careful what you say and to whom you say it. Promises and deals made during this passionate time aren’t likely to pan out later. Also, with Mercury in retrograde as the year begins, New Year’s resolutions will likely fall by the wayside before they even get off the ground.

In short, if someone promises you the stars on Saturday night, be careful. Although truth and love may be present in the moment, the reality is that you may need to go back and revisit past issues and patterns before you are able to move forward the way you’d like.

Use these first couple weeks of January to review and reflect instead of getting too ambitious about moving forward. Taking a step backward now will help you move forward with greater ease and stability in the future.

A better time to start putting things into forward motion is around the time of the new moon, when Mercury also turns direct, just before mid-month. Note the incredible forward shift in energy on the weekend of the 16th and 17th. During this pivotal time, clarify your goals, spend time in ceremony and prayer, and plant the seeds you wish to cultivate over the next four week lunar cycle.

January’s last ten days are marked by a shift in energy that will lighten the general mood and improve communication. With both the Sun and Venus moving into Aquarius around the 20th, criticism turns to optimism and depression transforms into hope. So look up! 2010 is the year of your inner rock-star!
