Oh My Word

What You Say Matters

Language is magic. While other animals have unique ways of communicating, language gives humans access to an amazing realm, where everything becomes symbolic. In the mind, the world takes form in words, creating meaning. Neuroscience is now discovering what spiritual traditions have long held – that our thoughts, which have electrical and chemical elements, are actually contained in identifiable forms within the brain by words.

This simple exercise will give you an experience of the incredible world language allows you to inhabit. Sit and listen to your breath. Allow the silence to bring you awareness and reverence. Once you begin speaking you will actually feel the weight and electrical charge of your words. Tune in to what you say and how you say it. Every word is vibration, with the power to affect others. Be conscious of how precious each word is, and let them ring out, in all situations, clear, true and kind. Be the words you want to hear from the world.
