3-2-1 Drift Off

Nurture Yourself to Sleep

Is there anything worse than watching the minutes and hours tick by, praying for the Sandman to sprinkle some of his magic on you? Here are some yogi-style tips for helping you drift off into dreamland.

In the hour before you climb into bed, take 5-10 minutes to stretch your back, shoulders and legs. Afterward, brew yourself a nice, hot cup of chamomile or Bedtime tea and sip slowly. Now, it’s bath time: Dab a few drops of lavender oil under your nose and put on some soothing music. Slip into a tub of warm (not blazing) water, infused with your favorite bath salts. Stay there for 15-20 minutes.

When you've got yourself all tucked in bed, lie on your right side. Slip your left hand into your right armpit, giving yourself a gentle hug. Close off your right nostril with your right hand and breathe long and deep through the left nostril. Inhale relaxation, peace, serenity. Exhale and allow tension to float away. There you go. Nighty-night!
